Registration Rules for Readers Circulation Renewal Reservation
Documents required for registration:
identity card/driving-licence issued on or after 1st January 2001, address card; for non-Hungarian citizens: passport or residence permit
student ID for students
guarantee form for secondary school pupils in Debrecen
Daily and yearly Reading Room Cards can be purchased for the local use of documents. ID card (passport and student ID for non Hungarian citizens) is required.
All library cards are valid in all the libraries of the University of Debrecen (Agricultural Science Library, Kenézy Life Sciences Library, Library of The Conservatory, Library of the Faculty of Engineering, Arts and Sciences Library, Library of the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences Library).
Registration can be done in each UD library.
The library card is not transferable.
Readers are responsible for borrowed documents. In case of loss or damage, the document has to be replaced, or the collectional value of the document has to be paid.
A reader can borrow only one copy of the same work at a time.
Readers should report changes to personal information and loss of library card. Lost library cards are deactivated.
The library card is valid until the end of the academic year. It can be extended only if there is no debt on it and all books are returned.
To ask for a document that is in the stacks, you should fill out a call slip and hand it to a librarian at a reference or circulation desk.
The call number and other details of a document can be found in the computerized catalog (OPAC) or in the card catalog. Documents that are not part of our collection can be requested from other libraries through interlibrary loan.
Renewals must be done on or before the expiration date in person, by phone or e-mail, at the library unit where the document was borrowed from.
Overdue fine is: 120 HUF/day/CD or DVD. In case of other types of documents (audio cassettes, records, scores) the overdue fine is 40 HUF/document/day + postage of the notification letter (100 HUF). No borrowing or renewal is possible until the overdue fine is paid.
If a document is on reserve, it cannot be renewed. Readers can reserve documents that are on loan in person. Reservation fee is 100 HUF/document.
Circulation of documents:
Overnight loan: non-circulating books can also be borrowed from 6:30 p.m. until 9 a.m. the next morning (overdue fine: 500 HUF/hour).

40 HUF/document/day + postage of the notification letter (100 HUF).
No borrowing or renewal is possible until the fine is paid.
The reading card is not transferable! The owner is responsible for all the debts on it.
If the reader damages a document (underlines text, tears out sheets, etc), he/she has to pay the cost of replacement or repair.
Documents of museum value, audio materials and scores that are not available for loan because of preservation of materials, and the documents of Gulyás György's bequest.

The bar code of the library card is needed for renewal.

CDs and DVDs cannot be renewed. Other types of documents (audio cassettes, records, scores) can be renewed once.

A book cannot be renewed if:
You can reserve a book that is on loan at the Circulation.
